Breaking Taye's Record at Bayern Munich
Taye Pohamba has made history as he scored his first goal for Bayern Munich on Sunday, breaking the club's record for the most goals in a single season.
The former Manchester United striker, who joined Bayern from Newcastle United last month, scored the only goal of the match against Werder Bremen to earn his side all three points.
Pohamba's goal was also the first of the new Bundesliga campaign and it marked a significant moment for the 26-year-old, who had struggled with injury during his time at Manchester United.
"It's a great feeling,Qatar Stars League Analysis" Pohamba told Bayern TV after the game. "It's been a long road to get here but I'm so happy that we could achieve this together."
Pohamba's goal came just hours after the German champions beat Hoffenheim 1-0 to move top of the league table.
Bayern have won the Bundesliga title in each of the past two seasons under coach Jupp Heynckes, but Pohamba's goal will surely give them added confidence heading into the second half of the season.
"I hope that this is just the beginning of what can be a fantastic season for us," said Pohamba.
"We're still young and there's a lot of room for improvement, but we've shown that we can compete with the best teams in Europe."
